Legend-Oracle and ally

The Gate Beautiful
Acrylic on canvas – 120 cm x 100 cm

Waiting

Invertebrate sand to stone

Caterpillar grass to cloth

Golden bark to paper

Gathering

In the courtyard of the women

A violet essence rings

Through translucent porcelain

and crimson flowers reign

On pomegranate trees

A cuckoo calls

Bringing acorns to eat

A bitter feast

Darkness, shadow, light, shadow, darkness, light, shadow, light

Resting in the dark

Feeling the difference

of grit from seed

Choosing

I stand inbetween

Where two ways meet

and I hear singing

Singing with slips and slides, rattles, cracks and flickers, flutters of leaves

The sun lifting their soft pale undersides

I make my way

a coal and coral fashioned pot

Containing seeds

and a modicum of grit.

Our lady with the moon at her feet…

A new venture for me, the sacred feminine. Discovering the hidden through intentional creativity  ( http://www.shilohsophia.com ) I found it hard to paint images/portraits of women angels or saints and left it for a while skirting around…one day I decided to just do it and found the value of it immense. This image of the Madonna arrived and has a very profound effect on me. I am starting a course on the Black Madonna through history coupled with our own intentional painting alongside. Will be interesting to see what arises…
